There are a great variety of status effects which can be caused by either the Dwarves or the enemy Creatures. Status effects have many different effects, the majority being negative to whoever is inflicted by them. Most negative status effects serve to inflict damage-over-time (DOT) onto a target which will slowly chip away at its health while they are in effect. The Dwarves are capable of inflicting many status effects themselves via their Equipment, and even have certain ways to mitigate the damage caused by them. The Elemental Insulation perk is used to reduce damage taken by status effects by up to a maximum of %30. All dwarves have a unique upgrade which allows them to resist most of the damage from a certain Status Effect.

To better understand how status effects work, it may help to know what the terms involved mean:

  • Damage: This is the figure which is subtracted from your character's health bar. The figures listed for any damage dealt are displayed as their base values before Hazard Levels are applied. For more information, check the associated page of the status effect's source in question.
  • Interval: This is the rate at which the damage is dealt to your character in seconds (s). It is only in effect for status effects which deal damage. For example if a status effect has an interval of 1 second, then it will deal damage to you every second.
  • Duration: This is how long the status effect lasts for until it naturally goes away on its own. It is important to not get Interval and Duration confused.
  • Radius: Sometimes a status effect is dealt by an entity in the game which is not considered a Creature, such as flora or a natural element in the terrain. Where possible, the radius where the status effect can be inflicted will be listed in metres (m).

Status acid Acid/Poison

Acid (also known as Poison) is a generic status effect exclusive to enemies and environmental hazards. Damage from Acid is not set at a fixed rate and any enemy which causes it will have varying stats for the effect.

The Engineer can equip a modification for his Armor Rig called "Hazmat System" which reduces all Acid/Poison damage taken by %50. This effect stacks with Elemental Insulation to resist up to %80 of all Acid/Poison damage.

Acid Sources

Glyphid Acidspitter (Enemy)

This enemy can use its Acid Spit attack to cause Acid damage on the Dwarves. It fires a yellow glowing glob which travels towards Dwarves in a straight line.

It should be noted that the initial hit is not considered acid damage and will not be reduced by Elemental insulation. What is listed below is purely the damage dealt by the Acid DOT.

  • Damage: 2.5
  • Interval: 0.5 - 1.0 s
  • Duration: 2 s

Glyphid Praetorian (Enemy)

This enemy can use its Acid Spray attack to cause Acid damage on the Dwarves. It spews a bright green spray of liquid from its mouth which cuts through multiple targets and some terrain.

  • Damage: 5
  • Interval: 0.5 - 1.0 s
  • Duration: As long as you are within range of the attack

It can also spawn a poisonous cloud on death which causes Acid damage.

  • Damage: 3
  • Interval: 1.0 - 1.5 s
  • Duration: 10 s (the cloud will fade away 10 seconds after the Praetorian dies)
  • Radius: 4 m

Maggot (Enemy)

Maggots which spawn in the Fungus Bogs will spawn a spawn cloud of poisonous gas when killed, similar to Praetorians.

  • Damage: 2 - 3
  • Interval: 0.5 - 0.8 s
  • Duration: 4 s
  • Radius: 2 m

Poison Spores Fungus (Environmental)

This flora type is native to the Fungus Bogs. It is capable of spewing a poisonous cloud of gas when approached, shot at or destroyed. They typically grow in large fields closely distributed to one another.

  • Damage: 2 - 3
  • Interval: 0.5 - 0.8 s
  • Duration: 4 s
  • Radius: 2 m

Status fire On Fire

On Fire (also known as Burning) is a common status effect. Every mob in the game (including Dwarves) has an internal temperature limit, and when this limit is broken the target will burst into flames. Whilst a target is ignited it will take DOT, but it will not take DOT while it is heating up. Sources of Chilling will reduce the temperature of an enemy, preventing it from igniting (and vice versa). The limit needed to be reached to set a mob on fire varies depending on their maximum temperature.

The stats of Burning are fixed, as follows:

Burning Sources

  • Several Dwarven weapons and equipment can set creatures alight, including:
    • The CRSPR Flamethrower. Obvious enough to understand, as the weapon can deal damage and raise the temperature of any creature it is used on
    • The Incendiary Grenade, which is one of the few sources of instant ignition in the game
    • The Jury-Rigged Boomstick with the White Phosphorous Shells - %50 of the damage dealt is also used to raise the temperature of an enemy
    • The Powered Minigun with the Aggressive Venting and Hot Bullets mods or the Burning Hell Overclock
    • The 40mm PGL with the Incendiary Compound modification - %50 of the damage dealt is converted to Heat, which raises temperature
    • The Breach Cutter with the Inferno Overclock - %90 of the damage dealt is also used to raise enemy temperature
  • The Magma Core biome features many environmental elements which can raise the temperature of an entity.

Status frozen Frozen

Freeze effects:

  • Frozen enemy take no bonus weakpoint damage.
  • Certain enemy lose their unique death effect. For example, Glyphid Exploders will not detonate if they are killed while frozen.
    • Exhaustive list of enemies losing their unique death effect: Radioactive Glyphid Swarmer, Glyphid Praetorian, Radioactive Glyphid Praetorian, Glyphid Frost Praetorian, Glyphid Exploder, Radioactive Glyphid Exploder, Glyphid Bulk Detonator, Glyphid Oppressor, Glyphid Crassus Detonator, Mactera Goo Bomber, Mactera Frost Bomber, Glyphid Brood Nexus.
  • Any instant non AOE damage will do x3 damage against a frozen creature. (Examples and details below.)
    • All damage over time like burn, radiation, electrocution… will do normal damage.
    • All AOE attack will do normal damage, if an attack has a single target part and an AOE part, the single target part will do triple damage while the AOE part will do normal damage.
    • All spray attack (CRSPR Flamethrower / Cryo Cannon) will do normal damage.
      • Reinforced Power Drills will do triple damage
      • Power attack will do normal damage
      • Pickaxe attack is composed of 2 subhit:
        • first part of the hit (11 melee damage) will do triple damage
        • second part of the hit (16.5 melee damage) will do normal damage since it’s an AOE
      • Impact Axe is composed of 3 subhits:
        • 50 melee damage this part will normal damage despite being single target
        • 110 melee damage this part will do triple damage
        • 80 explosive damage this part will do normal damage
      • Explosive reload is not an aoe damage type, but will not benefit from the frozen status effect.

  • Fire and Ice are now best friends, sort of. They still cancel each other out but now whenever you force a creature out of either the Frozen or Burning state they will take a good chunk of damage.
  • Step 1 - Either set a creature on fire or freeze them.
  • Step 2 - Proceed to apply fire/heat damage if frozen or ice/cold damage if burning. This works with any elemental fire or ice damage and also with strong heat / cold sources
  • Step 3 - Keep at it until the target stops being frozen / burning
    • Upon activation, the mob or mobs will be dealt 200 damage.
