“ | We’re back cookin’ again! |
PSA: This wiki is abandoned and this article, while funny, is also full of misinformation. Use https://deeprockgalactic.wiki.gg/wiki/Deep_Rock_Galactic_Wiki instead.
The Space Rig Cantine is a large, secret section on the Space Rig. Various food items can be eaten here, but first, one must unlock it. To unlock the space rig Cantine, one must first perform the Error Cube Code Easter egg (see the error cube article for a tutorial on how to perform this). The next time you’re in the space rig after performing this easter egg, a new door will appear in the Memorial Hall leading to the Cantine.
Karl[]
Inside, the enigmatic Karl can be found. The first time you enter the Cantine, Karl will greet you, thank you for getting the door open, says “we shall speak again if you survive a thousand promotions”, and then will get up and leave through a door only he can interact with. Karl will never again appear in the Cantine after this interaction.
KAY-BOT[]
At the counter, you can order a meal from the robot dinner lady KAY-BOT. A price list is visible on the top left corner of the bar and when talking to KAY-BOT.
Starting from the first promotion of any dwarf, players are able to purchase food from the Cantine counter. Similar to the Abyss Bar, there is a TIP-C machine, where they may pay 5 credits to leave a tip. This triggers a random dwarf voiceline thanking KAY-BOT. Unlike the TIP-C machine in the Abyss Bar, you do not need to tip to KAY-BOT to unlock the Crafting Terminal.
KAY-BOT the robotic dinner lady seems to be an all-purpose drone similar to Bosco and Lloyd. She is a blue colour.
By approaching and interacting with KAY-BOT, she projects a list of the available foods with descriptions and price tags for you to order from. Upon ordering, as many plates as there are players in the lobby will emerge. If a player is holding a beer from the Abyss Bar, KAY-BOT will deny them service, and vice-versa, perhaps hinting at a rivalry between the two businesses.
Available foods[]
“ | Management would like to remind all employees to regularly eat, as mining operations burn a lot of calories. Underfed miners are less efficient workers. |
Unlike in the Abyss Bar, all foods are always available, assuming one has unlocked them.
- Each of the foods below become available for purchase once you have achieved its required player rank.
- Licenses require paying a sum of credits, but no ingredients, unlike beers. The total cost of unlocking all foods is 132100 credits.
Image | Name | Effect | Food License Cost / Description |
---|---|---|---|
Leaf-Lover’s Salad | The dwarf instantly vomits. | Food License Cost: Rank 1, 100 Credits.
Management-approved dwarf “food”. Assembled from a pile of leaves, and not even the fun kind. Starving would be preferable, frankly. | |
Strange Slop | Throwing distance and movement speed while sprinting or carrying heavy objects will be increased by 10% permanently. This buff can only apply once, the first time ever consuming it. | Food License Cost: Rank 50, 10000 Credits.
Someone asked KAY-BOT to cook this “recipe” as a joke. Unfortunately, due to a bug in her programming, she added it permanently to the menu. Thanks to the protein powder in there somewhere it’ll give you a nice buff to your muscle density, but are you brave enough to try it? | |
Glyphid Egg Omlette | Health increased by 10% permanently. This buff can only apply once, the first time ever consuming it. | Food License Cost: Rank 50, 10000 Credits.
A favourite on the menu, this nice omelette cooked from freshly harvested Glyphid eggs has been rated the best item in the Cantine every year since its addition to the menu. Who knew bug eggs were so tasty? | |
Spaghetti | Every Loot Bug and Loot Elf on the next mission will drop an Error Cube instead of their usual loot. | Food License Cost: Rank 50, 100000 Credits.
Added to the menu as an expensive treat for miners looking for some actually pleasant flavour, it was soon found that, for some unknown reason, the scent of the rare artisan spices used in the sauce of this dish will linger on dwarves for a short while… which attracts colonies of rare Loot Bugs and Loot Elves who have adapted to eating rare alien artifacts found on the planet. A favorite of collectors. | |
Fish N Chips | Melee damage increased by 200% and dwarf voice line volume increased by 300% for the next mission. | Food License Cost: Rank 20, 500 Credits.
This hearty dish is known to imbue dwarves with a strong desire to loudly yell and punch things. It tastes great, just… don’t ask where we got the fish. Please. | |
Breeder Steaks | Damage dealt permanently increased by 5%. This buff can only apply once, the first time ever consuming it. | Food License Cost: Rank 50, 10000 Credits.
If you can get over how disgusting it sounds in concept, chopped up chunks of Naedocyte Breeder with a spritz of lemon juice actually taste pretty good. Plus, it’s been reported to slightly increase weapon effectiveness, which despite being scientifically impossible seems to be a real effect. Who knew, eh? | |
Chicken Nuggets | Health slowly regenerates at a rate of 1 HP per ten seconds. | Food License Cost: Rank 30, 5000 Credits.
Due to a shipping mix-up, we recently acquired a significant stockpile of these. They seem to share their DNA with cardboard, but at least they taste good! | |
Corporate-Issue Breakfast | All “Daily Special” beer effects are applied simultaneously for the next mission. Drinking the daily special beer as well will stack that effect. | Food License Cost: Rank 50, 1000 Credits.
Scientifically devised to be the optimal start to a Dwarf miner’s day, with R&D spending many hours to determine an ingredient count to maximise both nutrition and employee morale while minimising production costs. The scrambled Glyphid eggs and “bacon” grown in DRG’s food-labs are sure to make you feel extra-motivated on your next mission. | |
Corporate-Issue Sandwich | Brewing ingredients collected on the next mission will be doubled. | Food License Cost: Rank 20, 500 Credits.
The classic worker’s lunch. Cheap, simple to make, and even simpler to eat, the “two slices of bread with filling” has been a corporate Cantine mainstay since before Deep Rock Galactic headed to the stars. It was just “Deep Rock Mining Company” back then. Anyway, do try to wash your hands before touching your food. |
Employee of the Month Screen[]
Above the counter is an Employee of the Month Screen. It is functionally identical to the old one in the Abyss Bar.
It shows the current name and profile picture of the Employee of the Month on the Deep Rock Galactic Discord, along with the Discord's current online and total users.
It also randomly shows one of 6 flavor texts:
- Managed to mine 10000 Nitra without using a pickaxe.
- Got a broken back after carrying the entire mission on the shoulders.
- Won a drinking contest against Bosco.
- Forgot to bring ammo to a mission. Highest kill count anyway.
- Has a fatter ass than a Dreadnaught.
- Secretly knows what the error cube is for. Won't tell anyone.
Trivia[]
- KAY-BOT and Lloyd seem to dislike each other, based on the fact if a dwarf is holding a product from one of them, the other will not serve them.
- Karl wears the Scale Brigade armour set.
- The Space Rig Cantine was added in Season 05: Drilling Deeper, but due to a bug, the error cube code would not unlock the door and therefore was inaccessible. This bug was fixed in Season 6: Corporate Expansion.
- Due to the fact that an Error Cube will also reward the player with 2500 Credits upon deposit, collecting at least 41 error cubes in a mission after eating the Spaghetti will yield a net profit of credits, in addition to the large amount of Experience and, of course, the cubes themselves. Note that finding this many is uncommon, so a mission with the Loot Bug Swarm mutator is recommended if one doesn’t want to lose credits.
- The developers have confirmed that the idea for the Cantine came from a stream wherein one RondalMcDondal sent "who let bro cook" in the stream chat.
