About
The Shield Generator is a portable, throwable utility tool exclusive to the Gunner. Once the Shield Generator comes into contact with a surface, it will project an indestructible dome shaped field that will buff any teammate within its radius. Once the protection field expires it'll return to its owner and initiate a cooldown before it can be used again. The Gunner is supplied with four Shield Generators, which can be restocked at a Resupply Pod.
Enemies such as Glyphids cannot enter the field, and the shield will absorb ranged attacks from creatures such as Mactera. Whilst in the shield, Team mates receive a 50% Damage reduction buff, regenerate 10 units of Shield per second, and can return fire at any enemies outside.
Because the shield only protects its users by quickly regenerating their shield and giving them a damage reduction, it will not protect the health of its users from attacks with damage that exceed the maximum capacity of their shield, such as the explosion of a bulk detonator.

Trivia
- The Shield Generator replaced the Satchel Charge as the Gunners utility tool when Update 19: Guns! Lots of Guns! was released.
- The shield blocks range attacks from dwarf weapons but if a piercing mod is equipped, it will go through.
