“ | As the Lithophage infection has aggressively evolved and turned airborne, even the flying creatures of Hoxxes have begun to succumb to the disease. The Rockpox Goo Bomber is one such result. It has been observed spreading goo containing traces of lithophage throughout the cave systems, greatly expanding the reach of the disease and its potential effect on wildlife. R&D recommends destroying the Goo Sacks to stop the spread - and to stay well out of the resulting puddles to avoid undue contamination of company material. |
— Miner's Manual Description |
Rockpox Goo Bombers is a hostile creature found on Hoxxes during a Lithophage event. Formed from a Mactera Goo Bomber being infected by a Rockpox Larva, the Rockpox Goo Bomber is the first example of the Lithophage plague jumping species from Glyphids to Macteras. The takeover from the sickness has killed off the Mactera's central immune system, making them incredibly numb to pain. This numbness to pain makes these Mactera-transformed Lithophages extremely hard to kill. They are usually found near a Lithophage meteorite during an outbreak and will defend the meteorite to its death in order to protect it.
Combat[]
Rockpox Goo Bombers are much hardier than regular Goo Bombers as expected due to their rock-hard infected carapace. Players can still destroy the two globules from its abdomen to prevent it from leaking its fluids all over the place. However, it has six pustules and, combined with its high health, near-invincible carapace and its ability to fly, it is one of the toughest Rockpox enemies to face. When attacking, it behaves like a regular Goo Bomber with a Rockpox twist, spitting globules that both damages and increases the Lithophage status-effect on the player and coating the ground in infections goo which additionally slows movement. They are a priority target to take down due to this.
