The Performance Pass was introduced with the Season 01: Rival Incursion update, and contains various cosmetics, resources, and credits that players can unlock through playing. Previous seasons' content is transferred into Cargo Crates, Lost Packs, the Shop or Matrix Core Cosmetics.
Performance Points
Players start at Rank 1 and can advance as far as they like, although the progression track offers only credits past Rank 100. Each rank requires 5000 Performance Points (PP).
Performance Points can be gained in the three following ways.
Earning Mission XP
In general, PP are a function of experience points. Anything that earns XP will earn PP, so the track can be advanced by playing the game as usual. However, performance points are affected by diminishing returns, so a mission that brings double the XP will not bring double the PP; thus, a player might find that at some point adding on hazard level and warnings is no longer cost-effective in terms of time spent and risk of failure.
Here are approximate numbers of total mission experience required for certain numbers of performance points, assuming no Data Cells were acquired during the mission and no season challenges were completed.

Collecting Data Cells
Data Cells can be acquired during any normal mission from three randomly-spawning events: hunting a Prospector Drone, hacking a Prospector Data Deposit or a Rival Communications Router. Either adds a flat bonus of 1,250 to the mission's PP yield (or 350 if the mission is failed).
As a way to boost early progression, the first 15 times a Data Cell is collected, also awards 1 , which can be claimed at the Season Terminal on the Space Rig.
Completing Season Challenges
Season Challenges can be any of the following:
- Collect a Data Rack | 1 . After being completed 8 times, it changes to 2,500 . |
- Complete 3 Rival Presence warnings | 1 . After being completed 8 times, it changes to 2,500 . |
- Complete 3 or 5 missions in two different biomes | 2,500 or 3,750 |
- Complete 3 or 5 missions as two different classes | 2,500 or 3,750 |
- Complete 3 or 5 missions of two different types | 2,500 or 3,750 |
For the biome, class and mission type: 3-missions-long challenges award 2,500 , and 5-missions-long challenges award 3,750 . All of them offer a choice of two options, either of which will advance the challenge.

Cosmetic Tree & Scrip
Scrip can be used to purchase items on the cosmetic tree, and can be gained at certain ranks of the Performance Pass, as well as for the first 8 Data Racks challenges, the first 8 Rival Presence challenges, and the first 15 Data Cells (see above).
The Cosmetic Tree is a big tree-like connected grid of various cosmetics, paintjobs, and weapon frameworks. Some items have connection nodes between them that will grant 50 of a single pre-determined crafting resource.
The path of unlocked items is marked in yellow liners/borders, while items that can be unlocked with the next Scrip have a shining outline. Inaccessible items are greyed out.
Each node (including the connection points) requires 1 to unlock. The entirety of the Season 2 cosmetic tree requires 91 , which is exactly how much Scrip can be earned during the season.
Seasons Rewards
Season 01: Rival Incursion Performance Pass included:
- 70 , 60,000 , 600 , 600 , 500 , 500 , 500 , and 450 .
- 16 Headwears, 4 Beards, 3 Moustaches, 1 Sideburns, and 1 Hair Color.
- 4 Armor Paintjobs, 1 Bosco Framework, 1 Bosco Paintjob, 20 Weapon Frameworks, and 4 Weapon Paintjobs.
- 1 Pickaxe Paintjob and 6 Pickaxe Parts.
- 3 Victory Poses.
Season 02: Rival Escalation Performance Pass include:
- 75 , 32,500 , 650 , 650 , 650 , 600 , 600 , 600 and 190 .
- 16 Headwears, 4 Beards, 3 Moustaches, 1 Sideburns, and 1 Hair Color.
- 4 Armor Paintjobs, 1 Bosco Framework, 1 Bosco Paintjob, 24 Weapon Frameworks, and 4 Weapon Paintjobs.
- 1 Pickaxe Paintjob and 6 Pickaxe Parts.
- 3 Victory Poses.
