“ | A heavily armored variant of the Mactera Shooter, the Brundle is just as deadly while also being very resistant to damage with its vulnerable abdomen covered by thick armor. Even more aggressive than its fragile counterpart the Brundle is not afraid to get up close and personal. |
— Miner's Manual Description |
The Mactera Brundle is a rare hostile creature encountered on Hoxxes IV. It is a part of the Mactera family and closely related to the Mactera Spawn with the ability to fly. It sports 4 shark, pink wings and dark scale plating all around it's body. The Brundle can be found flying around idly in caves, but will most commonly spawn during a swarm to combat the Dwarves.
Due to it's dark armor, it can be almost immediately identified as a tougher, more damage absorbing enemy. While it's standard attack is shared with the Mactera Spawn, it does not die nearly as easily. It's main role is to aggressively fire at Dwarves and to tank incoming damage for their allies. It's armor can be broken however, and by destroying the double abdomen heavy plates it will be vulnerable to a x3 damage modifier in that area.
While it is heavily resistant to most standard issue ballistic weapons, the Brundle has several weaknesses the Dwarves can take advantage of. It will take full damage from fire, explosives, and electricity. Due to it's flying status, it is easily terminated by freezing it, where it will then drop to the ground and instantly shatter.
Similarly to the Mactera Tri-Jaw, it loses the dodge ability that the Mactera Spawn has in exchange for it's protective shell. Because of this, it is a fairly easy target to damage with any medium-long range weapons.
