“ | The original design for the M1000-pattern DRG-issue precision rifle goes back hundreds of years, practically unchanged. High damage, respectable fire rate...and that "Ping". A prime example of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". |

About
The M1000 Classic is the Scout's alternative primary weapon. It is a semi-automatic rifle with a long, singular barrel. The barrel and receiver are made out of metal whereas the stock and grips seem to be made of wood. Pressing the fire button will fire a single round which has high accuracy and damage. The weapon is considerably accurate when standing still but has strong recoil, and suffers from pronounced spread growth when rapidly firing.
It is one of few weapons to boast an alternative firing mode. Holding down the fire button will cause the weapon to enter Focus Mode. In this state, bullets fired have perfect accuracy and deal double damage but consume two rounds out of the magazine at once. Focus Mode requires a brief charging state, indicated by the crosshair rotating. While Focus Mode is active, the screen zooms in slightly to assist with aiming. When aiming for weak points, Focus Mode shots can deal extreme damage to targets, often more than enough to kill them in one shot. Focus Mode shots can be cancelled by reloading or swinging the Pickaxe.
It is a stark contrast to the Scout's Deepcore GK2 assault rifle, being a semi-auto high-precision rifle with much less reserve ammo. It's most effective at longer ranges being used to pick off key targets such as Glyphid Praetorians, Glyphid Wardens, Glyphid Acid Spitters, Spitball Infectors, Mactera Spawn and Cave Leeches. Due to the weapon's unique firing style, it is possible to create builds which improve either the hip-firing or the Focus Mode.
The M1000 suffers to perform in close-quarters combat where mobility and responsiveness are key to survival. Without appropriate Mods or Overclocks the weapon's spread growth will prove to be a hindrance when firing on the move, often causing shots to land in poor spots or miss targets entirely. For this reason the weapon pairs excellently with the Zhukov NUK17 dual SMGs, which perform much better in situations such as these and have plenty of ammo to take out what few foes the M1000 can't handle.

Stats Breakdown
Understanding the Weapon
Unique Modifications
Hitting Where It Hurts
Hitting Where It Hurts causes each charge shot from the M1000 Classic to stun a target at a rate of 100%.
Precision Terror
Precision Terror inflicts 100% Fear Factor on creatures in a 3.5m radius around a creature that was killed via a Focus Shot to a weakpoint. This modification helps the M1000 perform much better in Swarms by giving the player space to switch out to a secondary weapon such as the Zhukov NUK17s, which can easily deal with fleeing Glyphids.
Killing Machine
Killing Machine drastically reduces the M1000's reload time by 0.75s when attempting to manually reload right after killing an enemy. This Mod is best suited to hipfiring builds by allowing the M1000 to continue firing immediately after expending its clip.
Unique Overclocks
Hoverclock
Hoverclock is a Clean Overclock
Whenever Focus mode is used midair the Player movement gradually slows down and lasts for a short period, the slowdown can get refreshed by killing or by touching the ground.
- Max slowdown: 80%
- Time to reach Max slowdown: 0.58s (100% Focus Speed) / 0.37s (160% Focus Speed)
- Max slowdown duration: 0.93s (100% Focus Speed) / 1.14s (160% Focus Speed)
- Slowdown duration with a fully focused shot: 0.71s (100% Focus Speed) / 1s (160% Focus Speed)

Trivia
- The M1000 Classic is based on the American M1 Garand semi-automatic rifle, and includes the trademark 'ping' when ejecting spent clips
- Mission Control expresses fondness for the M1000 when unlocking it via its corresponding Weapon License Upgrade assignment. He calls it a "good choice", and it is the only weapon he doesn't express bemusement or caution with.
