As well as physical abnormalities the Webspitter behaves quite differently to most other Glyphids. A more passive creature, the Webspitter prefers to hang from ceilings and walls at the back lines, and will fire sticky web projectiles upon the Dwarves. Upon burrowing in, the Webspitter will look for an optimal spot to fire webs from. It will remain in this spot and fire its webs continuously at a moderate firing speed. The webbed projectiles are quite dangerous, dealing lots of damage on higher Hazard Levels. The true danger comes from the webbed status effect inflicted by their projectiles. Being webbed dramatically slows a Dwarf's movement speed, and obscures the player's screen with a thick web overlay that can block vision. These can cripple a Dwarf's position and mobility, rendering them wide open to attacks from other Glyphids.

The Webspitter serves a role as a support unit and will rarely (if ever) enter direct combat. They prefer to keep their distance from the Dwarves and assist their creature allies in battle. Slowed Dwarves are easy prey for enemies like the Glyphid Grunt Slasher and Glyphid Exploder. Other enemies which fire projectiles such as the Mactera Spawn or the Glyphid Acid Spitter benefit as well, as it will make lining up their shots easier. Furthermore once a Dwarf gets webbed there is no way to remove the effect quicker - it lasts for four seconds and will only expire once that time has passed. Even if the projectile misses, it leaves a bundle of webs at the point of impact which can inflict the webbed effect if a Dwarf runs through it (but it will deal no damage).

While the Webspitter is a potent support unit, it suffers with a measly 40 base health points which doesn't increase much as the Hazard Level increases. This makes it very easy to kill, though the distance it puts from itself to the Dwarves means that only some weapons can achieve this. Guns with a long effective range and high damage are best to take out the Webspitter.

* Although the Webspitter appears to have armor plating, it will take the same amount of damage anywhere on its body. The only exception is its mouth which takes an extra %200 damage. But considering how little health the Webspitter has, targeting the mouth often isn't necessary.

* The Webspitter projectiles are somewhat slow and can be seen coming the moment they are fired. They are fairly easy to dodge as a result, but can catch some players off guard if they are not looking.

* It is best to deal with Acidspitters the moment they burrow in, as they will always try to find a safe spot to fire webs from once they spawn. Their bright purple skin makes them easy to spot, even in darkness.

* The Gunner's Heavy Revolver and the Scout's M1000 Classic are best to deal with Webspitters. They are highly accurate, have excellent range and deal enough damage to kill the Webspitter in a single shot regardless of modifications, Hazard Level or weakspots.

* The Engineer can order his turrets to fire upon Webspitters with the Hawkeye modification. He can try using his primary weapons (the Auto 210 or the Voltaic SMG) to focus down the creature, but they have limited range. Using his secondaries (the 40mm PGL or the Breach Cutter) is not advised as their damage is far too much overkill, and their low reserve ammo counts mean that they cannot be used frivolously.

* The Driller can struggle to deal with Webspitters, as none of his guns have good range. His best option is the Subata 120 to fire upon them with, but dealing with long range threats is not the Driller's job so it is best to leave killing Webspitters to his teammates.

A close cousin of the Acid Spitter, the Web Spitter is capable of firing globs of extremely sticky webbing that will entrap and immobilize any prey, allowing them to go in for the kill at their own pace. Relatively benign compared to most of their kin, but still fully capable of spelling doom for anyone encountering one during a full-on swarm.
— Miner's Manual Description

The Glyphid Web Spitter is a hostile Creature on Hoxxes IV. It can be found in any region of the planet except Glacial Strata (they are replaced by Frost Grunts). It is a member of the Glyphid family, though it is quite a unique Glyphid compared to its brethren. Most notable is the bright purple chitin growing on its abdomen and front legs, and the pinkish salmon color of its body underneath. Its legs and chitin are adorned with several small spikes, and the whole abdomen appears to be shaped longer and thinner. All of these features suggest an evolutionary preference for a climbing species.

As well as physical abnormalities the Web Spitter behaves quite differently to most other Glyphids. A more passive creature, the Web Spitter prefers to hang from ceilings and walls at the back lines, and will fire sticky web projectiles upon the Dwarves. Upon burrowing in, the Web Spitter will look for an optimal spot to fire webs from. It will remain in this spot and fire its webs continuously at a moderate firing speed. The webbed projectiles will inflict the webbed status effect. Being webbed dramatically slows a Dwarf's movement speed, and obscures the player's screen with a thick web overlay that can block vision.

The Web Spitter serves a role as a support unit, they prefer to keep their distance from the Dwarves and assist their creature allies in battle. Once a Dwarf gets webbed there is no way to remove the effect prematurely - it lasts for four seconds and will only expire once that time has passed. Even if the projectile misses, it leaves a bundle of webs at the point of impact which can inflict the webbed effect if a Dwarf runs through it (but will deal no damage).
