Glyphid Grounders are disruptive enemies. They spend most of their time burrowed beneath the surface, using tremors and vibrations to sense approaching dwarves. When a dwarf gets close, the Grounder erupts from terrain with a surprise attack. Dwarves should be wary of soft terrain that seems to "breathe" or areas with unusual tremors, as these might indicate a waiting Grounder!
Combat[]
- Eruption: The Grounder's primary attack. It bursts from the ground beneath a dwarf, dealing moderate damage and knocking them off balance.
- Entrapment: After a successful eruption attack, the Grounder attempts to grab a dwarf with its powerful mandibles. If successful, the dwarf is partially buried into the ground, taking continuous damage over time. Only another dwarf can free the entrapped dwarf with a pickaxe.
- Burrowing: Glyphid Grounders can burrow through most terrain at high speeds. They will often retreat underground after a failed grab attempt or when taking heavy fire. They may also burrow to flank dwarves or surprise them from another direction.
