The Brood Nexus is one of the great mysteries of Hoxxes. While we know for a fact that Glyphids hatch from eggs, these malodorous, organic protuberances nonetheless expel freshly birthed and ravenous Glyphid Swarmers. It's theorized that the Brood Nexus is a completely separate genus, somehow able to replicate the DNA of other species, and use their "designs" for its own protection. Either way, if you meet one, take it out with extreme prejudice.

Breakable Weakpoints

The Brood Nexus possess 3 eyes, unlike regular weakpoints, they are breakable.
They have a fix, non scaling health of 200 and can only be damaged directly (ie not by Area Damage). Uppon dealing 200 damage or more to an eye, it will explode, dealing 300 damage to the Nexus.

Attacks

The Brood Nexus has no attack of its own, relying on its tankiness and producing an endless swarm of Glyphid Spawns to defend itself. This makes engaging a Brood Nexus on its own a trivial matter, especially if a crowd-control weapon such as the Flamethrower is available to deal with the Glyphid Spawns. However, if not quickly taken care of, the horde can quickly pile up from the constant spawning and overwhelm players if a larger threat approaches, such as a Swarm or a Bulk Detonator.

On death, the Brood Nexus explodes into a rain of multiple Glyphid Spawns, which can also be easily taken care of by crowd-control weapons.

Tips

  • The Brood Nexus has a very large health pool. Aim for the glowing eyes on its body to deal extra damage and minimize ammo wastage.
  • If frozen when destroyed, it will not release the group of Spawns upon death.
